Professors Reinhardt and Bell will examine how managerial tactics and leadership philosophies have to be adapted in difficult economic climates. Professor Bell will discuss the current global financial crisis and its impact on management and education. Professor Reinhardt will talk about management education and leadership with particular reference to environment and energy.
Forest L. Reinhardt is the John D. Black Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School and heads HBS’s Business, Government, and International Economy Unit. He has worked extensively in the sphere of environment and natural resource management. His other research areas include relationships between market and nonmarket strategy, the relations between government regulation and corporate strategy, the behavior of private and public organizations that manage natural resources, and the economics of externalities and public goods. Professor Reinhardt holds a Ph.D. in Business Economics, an M.BA, and an A.B., cum laude, from Harvard.
David E. Bell is the George M. Moffett Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School and Senior Associate Dean, Director of Faculty Planning and Recruiting. During his 30 years on the faculty, he has taught courses on managerial economics, risk management, marketing and retail. He also chairs the annual Agribusiness Seminar that attracts leading food industry executives from around the world. Professor Bell has published extensively on the integration of economic and financial theories of risk and the incorporation of psychological aspects of risk taking, such as regret and disappointment, into formal decision making systems. He was awarded the 2001 Ramsey Medal by the Decision Analysis Society of INFORMS. Professor Bell has a Ph.D. from MIT and a B.A. from Merton College, Oxford.
